Safer Leisure Management Software: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

When it comes to keeping your data safe, there’s only so much a password can do. That’s why we’ve implemented optional Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) from Duo by Cisco to our leisure management software staff application logins. Giving your organisation and customers an extra layer of security.

What Is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

MFA is a further layer of security added to protect your systems and data by combining at least 2 separate factors for authentication when logging in. These factors are typically:

  • Something you know – like a username and password
  • Something you have – like a phone, a keycard, or a USB key
  • Something you are – like fingerprints, iris scans or other biometric data

Why Is Leisure Management Software With MFA Important?

With digital storing of information typically dependent on cloud-based systems, it’s become increasingly important to lower the risks of data breaches by implementing additional security features, such as MFA.

A 2019 report conducted by Verizon found that 80% of all security breaches involve compromised passwords. MFA adds extra security with further authentication needed to login.

Your team have access to sensitive, personal member information within your leisure management software. Even with training and education on the password best practices, team members may still:

  • Share passwords
  • Reuse a password across different systems and websites
  • Be susceptible to social engineering

Social engineering cybersecurity attacks are non-technical techniques used to manipulate system users into overlooking security procedures to give up sensitive information. For example, a cybercriminal may pose as your IT team to ask a team member, typically via the phone or email, to disclose their password.

Passwords alone can be more susceptible to a data breach. But, with the addition of MFA it’s harder for your information to be stolen by third parties. Multi-factor authentication is an incredibly simple step to add to staff logins to further protect your organisation.

Keep your organisation and members’ information safe

Our leisure management software now offers the option of MFA for staff logins to help you protect your organisation and keep your members’ information safe.

With the MFA module, your team members will use MFA each time they log in to any of the staff applications within Legend – including front of house, back office, reports and more.
