Wincanton Sports Centre Selects Legend as new Front of House customer management system

 - Legend Club Management Systems replaces Gladstone MRM in competitive bid -

Wincanton Sports Centre has selected Legend Club Management Systems as its new front-of-house customer management system after a competitive bid process that included the incumbent solution Gladstone MRM as well as SportSoft and Xn Leisure. Wincanton selected Legend Club Management Systems because of the flexibility of the solution, its user-friendliness and cost-effectiveness.

A single site trust based in the small town of Wincanton, Somerset, Wincanton Sports Centre this year celebrated its 10th Anniversary and reached the landmark number of having 2.5 million visitors through its doors. With a total membership of approximately 4,500 and 600 members who pay by direct debit, Wincanton is a thriving sports centre who earlier this year had to reconsider its leisure management and front-of-house software when its IT support partner, Halo Leisure, advised that it was moving to a new IT system. To date, Wincanton had been using the Gladstone MRM Plus2 which was also used by Halo Leisure and hosted on its servers.

Lisa Vyner, General Manager at Wincanton Sports Centre, explains, “When Halo advised us that they had to change their IT system, we took it as an opportunity to go out to market for our own solution that would provide us with the functionality and support that we needed.”

She continues, “Although we had used the Gladstone system for 10 years, we wanted to go out to tender to some of the leading leisure management solution providers as part of the complete IT overhaul.”

Wincanton Sports Centre selected Legend Club Management Systems for its flexibility, its intuitive, easy-to-use design and the fact that the company provided the best response to Wincanton’s tender. In addition, the Legend system is significantly more cost-effective than the competitive solutions.

Lisa Vyner adds, “As an on-demand solution, Legend is innately flexible and cost-effective because there is not the same level of hardware cost outlay. It also makes the system easy to upgrade, which Legend do regularly and make freely available. In addition to all this, Legend was the only company who truly took the time to answer each of the questions we posed.”

Wincanton went live on the Legend solution in September 2011. The Centre is currently using Legend as its front-of-house, customer management solution. However, moving forward, Wincanton will also be looking to use the functionality within Legend to offer its members online services such as online bookings and payments.

Lisa Vyner concludes, “It has only been three weeks and we are already seeing how easy and effective Legend is. As we gain confidence over the next few months, Legend will enable us to free up time on the customer service and reporting side; this in turn will allow us to expand into other areas such as online services and targeted membership campaigns.”
